Customer Rating: Summary: Easy Does It Comment: I purchased the Kitchen Aid Ice Cream maker and must say it is so easy to make the very best ice cream,I make ice cream at least once a week or rather Kitchen Aid makes it for me. I would highly recommend this product.
Thanks Kitchen Aid, Sally Ebbert
Customer Rating: Summary: Makes good ice cream easily Comment: Bought this based on customer reviews. The attachment is easy to use with our Kitchenaid professional stand mixer. It only takes about 20 minutes to make a batch. I've used Alton Brown's vanilla ice cream recipe, and it is great.
Customer Rating: Summary: Positively Love this. Comment: I received my attachment 3 weeks ago and I've already made 6 different flavors of sorbet and 2 of ice cream. I absolutely love it!! So easy to use and fast too.
Customer Rating: Summary: Kitchen Aid Ice Cream Maker.... Love it! Comment: I've made several batches of ice cream (not custard with eggs) and all of them have been delicious. It is important to keep the batches under 46 oz., but if you keep your "maker" in the freezer all the time, you can have another batch made after it has time to freeze for a while. Just great! Customer Rating: Summary: Older Mixer Owners: Beware! Comment: My mixer is 20 to 30 years old (yeah, at my age you don't remember these things to the nearest year). I was forewarned by comments that it might not work easily with older models, but I've been around lots of gadgets and figured given a fighting chance I could make it work.
I couldn't. It has to do with attaching a part between the mixer's drive shaft and the ice cream paddle or beater or whatever it's called. Web research indicates that some people who had a problem resolved it. There are indications other people had my experience: just couldn't get the pieces to fit properly.
So ask yourself: are you feeling lucky today? Want to take on an engineering problem? Are you fearless about these things? Me, I wanted to have fun making ice cream. And now that I've seen this thing in person, it strikes me as no different from much cheaper paddle/frozen bucket machines out there, with the exception that the mixer's variable speed might give you some power over your product as the lead commentator has suggested.
I've returned mine. I've got enough problems.
